I've learned much about the right sided swing (initially developed by Gary Edwin) from some excellent teachers in Burlingame. One of the core concepts is keeping the body angles consistent throughout the swing. I find that as my hips begin to rotate my head wants to move back. i'd like to know whether this motion originates in the hips or the torso and how best to retrain the muscles to allow the head to stay covering the ball. Thanks.
I've had several instructors tell me that the arms drop in the golf swing with nothing but the force of gravity. To satisfy my curiosity I plugged the numbers for the period of a simple pendulum into the equation. Gravity doesn't appear to supply nearly enough force to explain the speed of the average tour pro's golf swing. Am I missing something. If the dropping of the arms does require a power source other than gravity, where does it come from? Thanks.
Ball Flight Question: Many instructional texts I've read say that to play a draw or fade the club face should aim at the target and the path will dictate where the ball will start. My experience and some of the newer texts including this one argue that the ball will start where the club face points and draw or fade depending on path. My guess from a simple understanding of physics is that the right answer lies somewhere in between. I would like to know if any actual testing has been done and what the results were. Thanks.
